India vs West Indies 3rd T20I: how India made 223
India lost Sanju Samson early. He made 3 before Shamar Joseph had him caught by Kamil Pooran, leaving India 7 for 1. After that, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan attacked from the start. They added 108 for the second wicket and took India to 115 in the ninth over.
Abhishek reached his fifty in 18 balls and made 69 off 30, with six fours and five sixes. Kishan made 37 off 18.
Then India lost three wickets for nine runs and slipped from 115 for 1 to 124 for 4. Hope stumped Kishan off Roston Chase, Abhishek was caught and bowled by Shamar Springer, and captain Shreyas Iyer was LBW to Chase for 1, two games after his unbeaten 102 in Lucknow.
The lower order kept the runs coming. Tilak Varma made 28 off 16, Nitish Kumar Reddy 21 off 14 and Axar Patel 20 off 14, but Varma and Axar were both run out. Prince Yadav hit 13 not out off 6 balls at the end, and India were bowled out on the last ball for 223.
Chase took 2 for 38 in his four overs, Springer 2 for 50 and Joseph 2 for 54.
West Indies’ chase: Arshdeep’s two spells
Arshdeep struck in the second over, bowling Hope for 5. Hope had made an unbeaten 102 in the previous match, so his early exit was a big blow for West Indies.
Shimron Hetmyer (43 off 26) and Kamil Pooran (42 off 27) rebuilt the innings, but spinner Naman Dhir removed both of them. He bowled Hetmyer and had Pooran caught by Arshdeep. Axar Patel also removed Rovman Powell for 5, and by the 11th over West Indies were 105 for 4.
Sherfane Rutherford, who hit 84 in Ranchi, kept West Indies in the game with 32 off 20 balls. Arshdeep came back to bowl him and then dismissed Keemo Paul, leaving West Indies 174 for 7. Springer hit 35 not out off 11 balls at the end, but the target was too far away.
Arshdeep finished with 3 for 44 from his four overs. Dhir took 2 for 39 and Axar 1 for 33.
