Commonwealth Games 2026 Medal Tally: Final Table and India’s Medals

Australia won the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games medal table with 70 golds and 171 medals. India finished fourth with 39 medals: 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze. India and hosts Scotland both won 13 golds and 39 medals, and India placed ahead on silver medals, 17 to 9. The Games ran from 23 July to 2 August 2026.

Final medal table: top 10

Rank Nation Gold Silver Bronze Total
1 Australia 70 45 56 171
2 England 29 45 36 110
3 Canada 19 20 23 62
4 India 13 17 9 39

7 Nigeria 10 7 7 24
8 Jamaica 10 4 5 19
9 Wales 9 10 12 31
10 Malaysia 8 3 5 16

The table is ranked by gold medals, then silver, then bronze. That is why Wales, with 31 medals, sit below Jamaica and Nigeria, who won fewer medals but more golds. In all, 674 medals were awarded across 215 events.

India at Glasgow 2026

India’s 39 medals came from a much smaller programme than usual. Glasgow staged only 10 sports, and several of India’s strongest events from Birmingham 2022, including wrestling, badminton, hockey, table tennis, squash and cricket, were not on the programme. Boxing, athletics and weightlifting produced most of India’s medals.

India’s 13 gold medallists

Sport Golds Winners
Boxing 7 Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Sakshi Chaudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Arundhati Choudhary, Sachin Siwach, Ankush Panghal
Para athletics 3 Sharmila Dhankar (women’s shot put F57), Soman Rana (men’s shot put F57), Dilip Gavit (men’s 100m T47)
Judo 2 Asmita Dey (women’s 48 kg), Harsh Singh (men’s 60 kg)
Weightlifting 1 Mirabai Chanu (women’s 48 kg)

Boxing was India’s most successful sport, with seven of the 13 golds. Haryana produced seven of India’s gold medallists, more than any other state.

Notable silver and bronze medals

  • Neeraj Chopra: silver in the men’s javelin.
  • Lovlina Borgohain: silver in boxing.

It was the smallest programme since 1994. Glasgow stepped in to host a scaled-down Games after the original host, the Australian state of Victoria, withdrew in 2023 citing costs, and the organisers kept costs down by using existing venues in a single city.

  • OVO Hydro (ceremonies)

  • Scotstoun Stadium
  • Tollcross International Swimming Centre
  • Commonwealth Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome

How India compare with Birmingham 2022

Birmingham 2022 Glasgow 2026
Rank 4th 4th
Gold 22 13
Silver 16 17
Bronze 23 9
Total 61 39
Sports on the programme 20 10

The drop from 61 medals to 39 mostly reflects the missing sports: wrestling alone brought India 12 medals in Birmingham. India held fourth place despite the smaller programme.

Next: Ahmedabad 2030

The 2030 Commonwealth Games, the centenary edition, will be held in Ahmedabad. It will be India’s second Commonwealth Games, after Delhi 2010, and with home advantage and a fuller programme India will expect a much larger haul.
