The 15 players came through the national pathway, including the National Esports Championships, and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports approved the squad on 22 August 2026. India still has no official Asian Games esports medal. Its only podium finish so far came in 2018, when Tirth Mehta won bronze in Hearthstone at Jakarta, where esports was a demonstration event.
