Chris Lynn is the competition’s leading run-scorer with 4,133 runs, and Glenn Maxwell holds the highest individual score, 154 not out.

Finals record
Perth Scorchers have reached nine of the 15 finals and won six. Sydney Sixers have played in eight finals, more than anyone except Perth, but won only three, and they have lost each of the last three they reached. Melbourne Stars lost three finals, in 2015-16, 2018-19 and 2019-20, and are still waiting for a first title.

Melbourne Stars are the only one of the eight teams yet to win the title. Perth’s six titles are the most by any franchise in the competition, and captain Ashton Turner became the first player to win five BBL finals.
BBL 15 (2025-26) in review
The season ran from 14 December 2025 to 25 January 2026. Perth Scorchers topped the ladder with 14 points, ahead of Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes on 13 each.
The final
Sydney Sixers were bowled out for 132 at Perth Stadium. David Payne took three wickets and was player of the match. Perth chased the target in 17.3 overs to win by six wickets, with Mitchell Marsh making 44, Finn Allen 36 and Josh Inglis 29 not out. Steve Smith and Josh Philippe made 24 each for the Sixers.

Sam Harper of Melbourne Stars was named player of the tournament. The season also produced the highest successful chase in BBL history: Brisbane Heat chased 258 against Perth Scorchers on 19 December 2025.

Lynn, who has played for Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers, is the only batter to pass 4,000 BBL runs, from 137 matches. He also leads the all-time sixes list with 227. The next four are separated by fewer than 80 runs.

KhelGossip’s view: Perth’s dynasty and the Stars’ drought
Perth Scorchers reaching nine of the 15 finals is the most remarkable record in franchise T20 outside the IPL. Squads change every season through the draft and overseas signings, so sustained success points to a club that recruits and develops better than its rivals, not just a lucky generation.
Melbourne Stars are the opposite story: three finals, no title, and in BBL 15 the player of the tournament in Sam Harper plus three of the top five wicket-takers, yet still no trophy. In our view the Stars’ problem has been finishing, not talent.
