Ayush Badoni was named Delhi’s Ranji Trophy captain for the 2025-26 season, with Yash Dhull as vice-captain. For the 2026-27 season, the Delhi and District Cricket Association has appointed Vijay Dahiya as head coach, replacing Sarandeep Singh. Delhi have not yet confirmed their captain for the new season.
Badoni’s appointment in 2025-26
Delhi named a 24-member squad under Badoni in October 2025. Senior batter Nitish Rana returned after a spell with Uttar Pradesh, and the squad also included Priyansh Arya, Anuj Rawat, Navdeep Saini, Simarjeet Singh and Hrithik Shokeen. Rishabh Pant missed the start of the season while recovering from a fractured right foot.
Delhi were drawn in Elite Group D with Mumbai, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Puducherry. They had failed to reach the knockouts the season before.
Vijay Dahiya returns as coach
Dahiya was appointed on 25 September 2026. It is the former India wicketkeeper’s fourth spell as Delhi coach, and he was in charge when Delhi last won the Ranji Trophy in 2007-08. He has also coached Uttar Pradesh to a Ranji semi-final in 2021-22 and worked in the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants.
