How India did in Hangzhou

At the last Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, India won a record 111 medals: 29 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze. That put India fifth on the medal table by golds and fourth by total medals. Para athletics brought the most medals: 55 of the 111, with 18 gold, 17 silver and 20 bronze.

Why India’s squad is smaller this time

India sent more than 300 athletes to Hangzhou but only 168 to Aichi-Nagoya. The biggest drop is in para athletics. According to The Bridge, the Olympic Council of Asia first gave India 60 athletics places, later raised to 62, against the 123 athletes India took to Hangzhou in that sport alone.
