Why the result matters
Australia had not lost a home Test to Bangladesh before. Pat Cummins’ side came into the series as clear favourites, and Bangladesh outplayed them with bat, ball and in the field.
The win also counts in the World Test Championship. Bangladesh are fourth in the 2025-27 standings on 55.56 per cent, and Australia remain top. See the latest positions in our WTC points table 2025-27.
